Livestrong's Commitment to Social Justice

UNITY IS STRENGTH.

We unite with all people who share our belief that suppressing Black voices is wrong. That oppressing the Black community is wrong. That discriminatory violence against Black people is unequivocally wrong.

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER.

Black Americans have the highest death rate and shortest survival of any racial and ethnic group in the US for most cancers. This is unacceptable.  We are committed to listening and learning from the experiences that perpetuate this disheartening fact.

To that end, moving forward our Innovation Conversations (Icon) will include a focused discussion on inequalities in cancer care that impact the Black community.  This will be a regular part of the Icon series, integrated into each conversation and designed to foster inclusive, respectful and productive dialogue.

ATTITUDE ACTION IS EVERYTHING.

The issue at hand is systemic and long-standing. It requires a response that is systematic and long-term. Dialogue is critical but words alone are not enough.

Accordingly, Livestrong is dedicating $50,000 annually to fund lasting solutions that will fill gaps and improve the cancer experience for Black Americans.
